Tattooing: how does it work?

Tattooing: how does it work?

Your skin has 3 layers (each a few tenths of a millimeter thick):

1. The epidermis:
a zone that constantly renews itself, where ink does not hold and fades.

2. The dermis:
the layer where the ink must be deposited for the tattoo to set.
This layer is not perfectly “flat” or uniform, which is why even a single line may require touch-ups.

3. The hypodermis:
fatty layer: if it is pierced, it causes damage and the ink spreads (like a bruise).

4. The flesh :
if it is pierced, it causes damage; this becomes scarification.

To put it simply, the ink pigments are then absorbed by your skin and blend with your skin’s natural color.
(the ink may take on a different tone depending on skin type).
